Yangmingshuwu
Hidden within the lush greens of Yangming Shan National Park stands the dark green building Yangmingshuwu.
Yangmingshuwu is a phonetic translation from Chinese, Yangming Wang was a famous Ming Dynasty Scholar and philosopher. The National Park and the building were named Yangming in honor of him, Shuwu means study or studio.
The original name of the building was Jhongsing Guesthouse‚the last and largest retreat built for the late President Chiang Kai-shek, and a summer residence and a place to host local and foreign dignitaries.
The main building is located on about 15 hectares of land; the construction was completed in 1970. Most of the furniture is made from red wood and fireplaces can be found throughout the house, the combination of architectural detail and selected furnishings blend together to create the feeling of classic Chinese style elegance.
