Jhuzih Mountain is 1,103m above sea level formed by volcanic activity about 700,000 to 800,000 years ago. The lava flowing down the mountain spread to a huge area, and the mountain is considered as the volcano having the widest coverage in the Datun volcano system. It’s area includes parts of Jinshan Township, Shihmen Township and Sanjhih Township. The lava from Jhuzih Mountain (Siaoguanyin Mountain System) is even seen at Fugui Cape and the shore of Linshanbi. Ridges and peaks of the mountain overlap one another, so there is neither a typical volcano dome nor any identifiable crater on its main peak whose ridge is steep. Pyroxene andesite is the major rock type of the mountain. As there are important military facilities on the mountain, it is not open to the public.
